30 Years Of Walking With Youth

Since its inception in 1991, Youth Outreach (YO) has closely followed the needs of youth and the changing pop culture, and adopted innovative and flexible methods to reach out to at-risk youth, and provide them with appropriate services. These include Territory-wide All-night Outreaching Services, emergency accommodation, The Hang Out - A 24-hour Drop-in Center, 24-hour service hotline, and psychological counselling, etc.

In Chinese literature, "the age of 30" marks an important milestone in one's life journey. A man of 30 shall be independence and pursue his goal with passion. YO has been walking with youth during these 30 years, loving what youth love and connecting with youth, as well as encouraging them to develop their potential and grow independently.

On the occasion of our 30th anniversary, we are organizing a series of celebration events, including "30 Years Of Walking With Youth" exhibitions both in Exchange Square Rotunda and on line, YO Dancical, graffiti painting with our neighbours in Sai Wan Ho, YO Walkathon, etc. with a view to promoting youth development with our vision, mission, and values to the community. The "30 Years Of Walking With Youth" exhibition introduces YO's growth journey and services for at-risk youth. It seeks to enhance the understanding of YO among people from all walks of life.

"30 years old" is a remarkable age that represents independence and growth with passion and goal. YO keeps walking with youth during these 30 years, to love what young people love and connect with young people, letting them to unleash their potential and grow independently.

During the year of 30th anniversary, we held a range of celebration events, including "30 Years Of Walking With Youth" exhibition, YO Charity Walk etc., to promote our youth development with vision, mission, and values to our community.

The pandemic has not prevented us from connecting with youth. We endeavour to sustain our youth services amid social distancing controls and school suspension, and proactively reach out youth who are exposed to family conflicts and psychological stress during periods of parents working from home and students learning on line.
